- Expansion is done where there is seaming of future crowding.
- Incisor proclination or retroclination
- It is caused due to deleterious sucking habits. It is self correcting if the habit is stopped at a stage.
- If anterior crossbite occur, selective grinding can be done which correct the problem.
- Posterior crossbite
- Sucking habits causes constricted maxillary arch. Most constriction is seen in primary canine arch area. This causes occlusal interferences and functional shift
- Narrow maxilla along with functional shift causes unilateral crossbite.
- Correction of occlusal prematurities is done by selective grinding.
- In bilateral constriction of maxilla, expansion of arch is done.
