Answer. Following are the steps in radiographic infection control:

  • Whole surface of X-ray machine should be covered with plastic.
  • Ask the patient to wear lead apron and seat him/her in proper position.

  • Dental healthcare worker should wash his/her hand with antiseptic and wear gloves.
  • While exposing the film care is taken to touch only covered surface.

  • From exposed film saliva is washed out and film is kept in disposable container outside the room.
  • After discharging the patient discard contaminated barriers and disinfect or sterilize lead apron.

  • Remove film from barrier pouch and keep it on clean surface. Take care not to touch the film with gloved hand.
