Spermatozoan:
- It is male reproductive cell, developed in the testis.
- It is 55-65 μm long.
Spermatozoan Parts:
1. Head.
- Oval shaped.
- It is formed by condensed nucleus, thin cytoplasm and thin cell membrane.
- Nucleus is capped by an acrosome containing muco-polysaccharides and acid phosphatise.
2. Neck.
- Connects head and body.
- Its anterior end is formed by anterior end knob and posterior end by posterior end knob.
3. Body.
- It is cylindrical.
- Consists of central core called axial filament covered by thin cytoplasmic capsule.
4. Tail.
- Contains axial filament surrounded by a spiral mitochondrial sheath.
- It provides energy for motility of sperm.
