Answer. Rifampicin is a macrolide antimicrobial drug.
It has good sterilizing and resistance preventing actions.

  1. Rifampicin inhibits DNA dependent RNA polymerase thus stopping the expression of bacterial genes.
  2. It is bactericidal to M. tuberculosis and many other grampositive and negative bacteria.

  1. Liver damage
  2. Inflenza-like reaction
