It is first formed cementum.

  • It is formed before the tooth reaches the occlusal plane.

Synonym:

  • Primary cementum.

  • It covers the cervical third of the root.

  • It is a highly calcified structure.
  • It doesn’t contain any cells thus called acellular cementum.

  • Incremental lines are more in number and placed closer to each other.
  • Collagen fibrils make up the bulk of the organic portion of the tissue.
  • Between these collagen fibrils, there is the presence of a ground substance of polysaccharide.
