  • Axio-Appendicular Muscles  are arranged into two layers:
    • Superficial layer
      • Trapezius

Trapezius Muscle Origin

The trapezius muscle arises from:

  • The medial one-third of the superior nuchal line of the occipital bone.

Trapezius Muscle  Insertion

Trapezius Muscle  is inserted as follows:

  • Superior fibres, into the lateral one-third of the posterior border of the clavicle.
  • Middle fibres, into the medial margin of the acromion and upper lip of the crest of the spine of the scapula.
  • Lower fibres, into the deltoid tubercle of the spine of the scapula.

Trapezius Muscle  Nerve Supply

  • Spinal root of the accessory nerve
  • Ventral rami of C3 and C4 spinal nerves
