Fibrocartilage Definition

  • Macroscopically, it looks like a dense connective tissue.
  • Fibrocartilage consists of a large bundle of collagen (type I) fibers.
  • Fibrocartilage chondrocytes are small and of the same size.
  • The chondrocytes are frequently arranged in rows between the collagen bundles.
  • Fibrocartilage is not covered by perichondrium.
